Tangled

You nurture it for years and years, until it is golden and beautiful. Until it is useful and desirable. Until one day, looking out the window at that inevitably flawless sky, you realise it's become just dead weight on your shoulders, loose threads in your arms, and the only freedom is to be rid of it.

But who has that bravery, when this gift is all you've known? Who can cut a lifeline and security away to pursue a vague and distant wish? Freedom is a terrifying concept, when not backed up by an undiscovered royal heritage, some elusive safety blanket yet unknown. I have a dream, but watching it float past, fire in the unreachable distance, is all I am willing to do, while in the meantime I will tie my golden, useful gift into a noose and slip it ever tighter around my throat.

I love this movie! I'm just a little sad and projecting. I want to draw happy Tangled fanart, and I will when I can.
