what gets me is that Tseng is smiling while pointing the child to the young hellhound... actually, what gets me is that he's smiling at all.

At least the child has enough sense to remain cautious around that soon-to-be-hellhound. The little critter (the hellhound, not the human (?)child) looks like it could deal some serious damage with its drill-tentacle.
As they say, "A drill is a man's romance!".
